About ‘The Hip Grandmother’

Ty 9-23-13Created in 2011, Tyster Gallery is a therapeutic art gallery. This spawned two blogs (the first made a year apart): Reflections of a Shaddow and The Hip Grandmother.

I am a soon-to-be grandparent to a single mother chronicling the stages of her pregnancy. After the birth, I plan to welcome viewers into our lives and share the joy of what it means to be able to be a grandparent and single woman.

Your comments and likes are always welcomed! Come join the party, it doesn’t start until I get there!

  • My daughter is at 19 weeks and has already given us an amazing grandson!! It is so wonderful. But, it is fragile, amazing, incredible, detailed and impatient. It sounds like you are having such a special bonding experience with each other and a baby to be. The love is palpable. Enjoy!!

Thank you for following me, I am so appreciative!

  • Hi not knowing when your “About” was written I am wondering if you are a grandma yet. I am going to be a first time grandma next year.
I even wrote a poem about what it means to me. I am mother of the Dad so my experience will be very different from yours, her mum will obviously be more involved than me.
Thanks for stopping by and liking my blog enough to follow I am grateful please feel free to visit as often as you wish. It’s good to meet you. Be well and happy. ๐Ÿ˜‰ xx

    • My blog started on July 31st of this year. I found out she (my daughter) was pregnant on July 1st. I had a month to ponder and decide what I am going to do. So….among other things, I had decided to start a blog. It is also easier for me to let my feelings go and you guys can find out what is going on in my world.
Thank you for the follow as well! Its great meeting you too! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • You know? I am so happy to join that club! I never knew it would mean so much to me. I could never picture myself as a grandmother…but I am almost there! Mind you, my granddaughter hasn’t been born yet so in all reality, I shouldn’t consider myself a grandparent just yet..those on the opposition are firm to remind me of that. In my reality, I am an up-and-coming grandparent and….you are right. I will be able to keep up with the Grandchild.

  • Firstly, “love” the title of your blog, “The Hip Grandmother!” You are soooo fortunate to have the gift of a dear grandchild come into your life. Treasure this opportunity and gift.
From one hip grandmother to another!

  • Hi and thanks for stopping by my blog. I too was a single mother for many years and my mother helped me along the way.
She became very close to my son as the years went by as I’m sure you will with your grandchild! All the best to both of you! Have a great week. Hugs Paula xxx

    • Hi Paula! Its wonderful to meet you! Yes, I can not wait to finally hold her in my arms. My mother and daughter are ‘best friends’ and it does warm my heart to imagine I will soon have my ‘best friend’ in March. ๐Ÿ™‚
      Have a great week!

  • Congratulations on your exciting news. I’m sure your daughter will be happy for all the help and wisdom you’ll share and BTW you do not look like you could possibly be old enough. I follow a couple of ladies that I know are new grandma’s. Laurie is actually a photographer and has tips for getting great photo’s of kids. You might enjoy her, so I’ll share her site:
Thank you so much for your visit and for following ๐Ÿ˜€ I’ll look forward to visiting again.

  • Thanks for the follow I’m looking forward to following your blog too. Parenthood and grand parenthood are pretty amaising, I sit here with my 2 year old son playing on his pretend computer, won’t last long though…….. oh, off to new things already !! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Thanks for finding me today. I hope I entertain and make you feel nostalgic. In the end it is my belief that all we get to take with us are our loves and our memories. My objective is to share my memories and hopefully help you remember your loves. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Thank you for following my blog. Congratulations on your soon-to-be entrance into a wonderful world. My grandchildren are 15, 12, and 3, and I wonder where the time has gone. They are the absolute joys of my life.

  • Great writing! Great blog – you are most definitely going to be a very hip grandmother. I also checked out Reflections of a Shaddow. I love cats (two cats own me). I also LOVE LOVE LOVE the header picture on that blog. Perfect! Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚
